Welcome to the Monkey House at the Zoo in the Forest Cottage. Find Monkey stuffed animals and plush toys at our sponsor's online gift shop.

There are quite a variety of monkey stuffed animals living here. In this group we have: Wildlife Artists Mitered Leaf Monkey, Russ Love Monkey (holding a heart), Soft Spot Monkey from Ganz, and Bongo the Monkey by Ty. Amber the Puffkin Monkey is in center at front. The big red monkey in back is Mashaka the Zoobies Monkey Blanket. Also notice the hanging plush monkeys from Wild Republic.

These monkeys include a Puffkin Gorilla from Swibco, a large Silverback Ape from Jaag Plush, and a Webkinz Silverback Gorilla stuffed animal from Ganz. Other gorillas are from Ty and a Gorilla from Coco Cola plush. There is also a little Wildlife Artists Gorilla Key Clip and a little Gorilla fur figurine.

zoobies blankets

The large monkeys are Zoobies. We have Bobo the Baboon, and Orazio the Orangutan. They are actually blankets for overnight adventures.

These are Chimpanzees. They are made by Wild Republic and Ty.

There are both New World and Old World monkeys. The Old World monkeys include 74 species. They belong to the Family Cercopithecidae. More than half of them are in Africa. The rest are Asian. These include forest monkeys, mangabeys, a macaque, baboons, leaf-eating monkeys and colobus monkeys.

They walk on all fours and have behinds padded with calluses. Their five-digit hands and feet have nails instead of claws. Their tails are used for balance as opposed to New World monkeys that have prehensile tails for grasping.

Old World monkeys are sociable and are diurnal, meaning they move about during the day. They have binocular vision, excellent hearing and a good sense of smell. Their diet is varied and includes fruit, vegetable matter, insects, small birds and eggs.

New World monkeys are found in Central and South America. They are smaller and more lightly built than the Old World monkeys. These belong to the Family Cebidae. Most of them possess a grasping tail. They are flat-nosed and tend to be vegetarian.

There are some Great Apes also here in the Monkey House. These include the gorilla, chimpanzee, orangutan, gibbon and siamang.
